SAIL TMT EQR bars carry the backing of one of India’s oldest and largest integrated steel producers, manufactured across the Bhilai Steel Plant in Chhattisgarh, Durgapur Steel Plant in West Bengal, and IISCO Steel Plant at Burnpur, also in West Bengal. The EQR designation stands for Enhanced Quality Rebar, and Fe500D EQR is SAIL’s workhorse grade for general reinforced cement concrete construction, produced to IS 1786:2008 with Amendment 3 mechanical properties.

Fe500D EQR is built with a narrow yield strength range, a UTS/YS minimum of 1.10, 16% minimum elongation, and 5% minimum uniform elongation, a combination that together gives the bar excellent bendability, good weldability, and high fatigue resistance under dynamic loading. Carbon content is capped at 0.25% and combined sulphur plus phosphorus at 0.075%, keeping the steel within the same impurity ceiling used across SAIL’s higher grades. The rationalised size range covers everything from light residential slabs through heavy infrastructure sections, and the grade is particularly suitable for earthquake-prone zones given its ductility profile.

Newton Exports offers this grade in 8mm to 40mm sizes, packaged in wire-strapped bundles of 2.5 to 5.0 tonnes depending on the originating plant, and supplied in standard 12-metre lengths with mutual agreement available for custom lengths. Fe500D EQR remains the reference grade against which SAIL’s HCR, Fe600, and Fe500S variants are typically compared for specification purposes on mixed-grade construction projects.
