Table mats from India come in two quite different families, and the first step is choosing between them. Printed and quilted cotton mats are washable, colourful and practical for families and cafes. Natural fibre mats, braided or woven from jute, grass or water hyacinth, bring texture, warmth and a strong sustainability story.

Our quilted cotton placemats are block printed in Jaipur, padded and machine quilted. They protect the table, wash easily and come in sets of four or six.

Natural fibre table mats

Jute

Braided jute placemats are made in West Bengal, India’s jute heartland. They are sturdy, biodegradable and suit rustic and coastal tables.

Sabai grass

Sabai grass placemats are woven by tribal artisan groups in Odisha. They are light, smooth and golden.

Water hyacinth

Water hyacinth placemats are woven in Assam from a plant that clogs rivers, so harvesting it helps clear waterways. They are chunky and beautifully textured.

Sizes

Rectangular mats are usually 33 x 48 cm, round mats 35 to 38 cm, and oval mats 33 x 45 cm. Matching coasters and runners are available in most designs.

Care and honest advice

Cotton mats are machine washable. Natural fibre mats should be wiped clean and dried, not soaked. We always print the right care advice on the label, because it reduces returns.

Colours

Cotton mats come in indigo, sage, rust, mustard and the colours of India; soft greys and neutrals may need special dyeing. Natural fibre mats come in natural tones with dyed accent rows on request.

Minimum quantities and packing

Minimums are per design and are kept modest. Mats are packed in sets with paper bands or header cards. Natural fibre mats are dried thoroughly and packed to prevent moisture in transit. We quote ex-factory, FOB, CFR or CIF.
