Indian serving trays are where craft meets everyday use. Our trays are made by artisans in Saharanpur, Moradabad, Jaipur and Agra in mango wood, sheesham, hammered brass, marble with stone inlay, and hand-painted enamel in the colours of India.Sizes run from small vanity trays to large ottoman and bar trays, sold singly or as nesting sets. Retailers like them because one tray works in the kitchen, the living room and the bathroom. We can match finishes to your range and pack trays in printed gift boxes.
Indian serving trays: one piece, many rooms
Indian serving trays are often the first piece of serveware our buyers order, and for good reason. A tray works on a coffee table, in a kitchen, on a bathroom shelf or on a dresser, so it sells to almost every kind of customer. India makes trays in more materials and finishes than almost anywhere else, which is exactly why it helps to narrow things down early.
If you already know the look you want, such as natural wood, gleaming brass or white marble, tell us and we will go straight to the right workshop. If not, the guide below will help you choose.
The main types of Indian trays
Wooden trays
Mango wood and acacia trays from Saharanpur and Rajasthan are the everyday favourites. They can be plain and minimal, carved, or finished with brass handles and inlay. Wood suits kitchen, bar and ottoman trays.
Brass and metal trays
Moradabad artisans hammer, etch and polish brass and copper into round, oval and rectangular trays. They are perfect for festive ranges, hotel lobbies and Indian restaurants.
Marble trays with inlay
White marble with semi-precious stone inlay, the technique made famous by the Taj Mahal, is still practised by families in Agra. Small marble trays make elegant vanity and gift pieces.
Hand-painted and enamel trays
Bright enamel and hand-painted wooden trays carry the colours of India. They are decorative rather than food trays, and they look wonderful in sets of two or three.
Sizes and sets
We supply everything from small 20 cm vanity trays to large 60 cm ottoman trays. Nesting sets of two or three are popular because they make one sale feel like three, and they save space in the carton. Handles, raised edges and felt bases can be added to most designs.
A note on finishes
We will always tell you which trays are meant for serving food and which are decorative. Wooden trays are finished with food-safe oil or lacquer, and brass trays for food can be lacquered or tin-lined. Enamel and painted trays are best for display and should be labelled that way. It saves your customers disappointment and saves you returns.
Pairing trays with other pieces
Trays sell best when styled. A wooden tray with a set of marble coasters, a scented candle and a small vase tells a complete story on the shelf. We can pack coordinated sets for gifting, and combine trays with bowls and serving platters from the same workshop so finishes match.
Minimum quantities
Minimums are per design and finish and are usually modest. Ready designs move fastest; custom sizes, colours or logos need a short development stage first.
Packing and shipping
Every tray is checked for finish, edges and stability, wrapped individually and packed in strong export cartons. Wood is protected against moisture for sea freight. We quote ex-factory, FOB, CFR or CIF, by sea or by air for smaller orders.
Questions buyers ask about Indian trays
Can I import serving trays from India in mixed materials?
Yes. Mixed orders across wood, brass, marble and enamel are common and travel well together.
Can you engrave my logo on a tray?
Yes. Laser engraving on wood and etching on brass are both possible for corporate gifts and private label.
Are wooden trays suitable for food?
Yes, when finished with food-safe oil or lacquer. We confirm the finish for each design before production.
Tell us where your customers will use their trays and we will suggest a small, well-balanced range to start with.
