Products

Our handcrafted bowls from India range from turned mango wood salad bowls to hammered brass serving bowls, glazed Khurja ceramics and hand-carved marble. Each craft has its own character, and the small differences in grain, glaze and hammer marks are what make Indian handicraft so collectable.Bowls are one of the easiest products to mix across materials in a single order. Food-safe finishes, nesting sets and custom glazes are available, and we can supply them as part of a coordinated serveware collection.

Handcrafted bowls from India for every table

Handcrafted bowls from India come in an extraordinary range: turned wooden salad bowls, hammered brass serving bowls, hand-glazed ceramic bowls and carved marble pieces. Each craft gives a completely different feel, and each comes from its own corner of the country.

When buyers ask us for bowls, we usually start by asking what they will hold. Salad and fruit? Soup and rice? Snacks at a bar? Or are they purely decorative? The answer points us straight to the right material and maker.

The main types of bowls we source

Wooden bowls

Mango wood and acacia bowls are turned on a lathe and finished by hand in Saharanpur and Rajasthan. They are light, warm and food safe with the right finish, ideal for salad and fruit bowls and serving sets with matching servers.

Brass and copper bowls

Moradabad metal workers hammer and polish brass and copper into serving bowls, small katoris and decorative bowls. Lined or tin-coated versions are used for food; others are decorative.

Ceramic and stoneware bowls

Khurja potters throw and glaze stoneware bowls in reactive glazes, speckled finishes and soft earth tones. These are the everyday workhorses and are usually dishwasher safe.

Marble and stone bowls

Carved white and black marble bowls, some with inlay, make striking decorative pieces and small serving bowls for nuts and spices.

Glazes, colours and consistency

We are always open about one thing: handmade means each bowl is slightly different. Reactive glazes shift a little from piece to piece, and wood grain is never the same twice. That is part of the appeal, and we recommend saying so on your product cards. For custom glaze colours, potters need a minimum quantity and a little time to get the shade right, but it is very much possible.

Sizes and sets

Bowls are supplied singly, in sets of four or six, or as nesting sets. Serving bowls often come with matching wooden or brass servers. We can mix sizes in one order and pack them to save carton space.

Building a collection

Bowls pair naturally with plates, trays and serving platters. A buyer who stocks a wood and brass serving story or a full stoneware dinner range will find it easier to sell bowls as part of the set. Our table runners and napkins complete the table.

Minimum quantities and packing

Minimums are per design and finish and are kept modest for handmade pieces. Ceramics travel in cell cartons, wood is protected against moisture, and metal and marble are wrapped individually. We quote ex-factory, FOB, CFR or CIF to your port.
