Cotton tea towels from India: useful, giftable, endlessly repeatable

Cotton tea towels from India are one of the steadiest products a home store can carry. They sell at the till, in multipacks and in food hampers, and customers come back for more. India is one of the world’s largest makers of kitchen linen, and our range covers both hand block printed towels with a craft story and woven towels made for daily use.

When buyers ask us about tea towels, we usually ask one thing: are you selling a craft or a workhorse? Both are wonderful, they just come from different makers.

Printed tea towels with a craft story

The Ajrakh tea towel is printed in Kutch with natural indigo and madder dyes. The Bagru block print tea towel carries Dabu mud-resist prints from Rajasthan, and the Kalamkari tea towel brings paisleys and florals from Pedana. These suit gift shops, museum shops and hampers.

Woven tea towels for everyday use

The handloom check tea towel is yarn-dyed in Karur, so the pattern never fades. The waffle weave tea towel absorbs more and dries faster, the Ikat tea towel is handwoven in Telangana, and the linen tea towel is lint-free for glassware.

Kitchen accessories

We also supply a block print kitchen apron and a quilted oven glove set in matching prints, so you can build a full kitchen range.

Size and finishing

Our standard size is 50 x 70 cm with a hanging loop, and we can supply 45 x 65 cm and other sizes. Towels come singly or in packs of two, three or six with header cards and barcodes.

Private label

Tea towels are ideal for private label. Woven towels can be dyed to your colour card, and printed towels can carry your own designs. Woven labels, packaging and barcodes are standard.

Colours

Classic checks in navy, red and sage, natural dyes in indigo and madder, and waffle towels in neutrals are easy. Very specific muted tones may need special dyeing with a minimum quantity.

Minimum quantities and packing

Minimums are per design and colour. Woven towels scale easily; printed towels are made in smaller batches. Towels are pre-washed where needed and packed for retail. Prices are quoted ex-factory, FOB, CFR or CIF to your port.

Questions about tea towels from India

Will printed tea towels bleed?

Natural dyes may bleed slightly at first. We advise washing separately the first few times.

Are linen tea towels better for glass?

Yes. Linen is lint-free and dries glasses without streaks.

Can I order tea towels with my own design?

Yes. Printers can carve your design, and weavers can match your colours.

Tell us whether your towels are for gifting, supermarkets or hospitality, and we will suggest a starting mix.
