Our handcrafted plates from India include hand-glazed stoneware dinner sets from Khurja, hand-painted Jaipur blue pottery, brass and copper plates and wooden charger plates. Every glaze is mixed and applied by hand, so each plate carries a little of the potter’s touch.Restaurants, boutique hotels and homeware chains buy plates in sets of four or six, or as full dinnerware programmes. Custom glazes, rim colours and backstamps with your brand can be developed with a sample run.

Handcrafted plates from India: dinnerware with a story

Handcrafted plates from India bring something to the table that factory dinnerware cannot: the marks of the potter’s hand, glazes that shift slightly from piece to piece, and centuries of craft behind every rim. We supply stoneware dinner sets, hand-painted blue pottery, brass and copper plates and wooden chargers.

Before we send options, we like to understand how the plates will be used. Daily dinnerware for a home store? Restaurant service that must survive commercial dishwashers? Decorative wall plates? Each one leads to a different maker.

Types of plates we source

Stoneware and ceramic plates

Khurja in Uttar Pradesh is India’s best-known pottery town. Potters there make dinner, side and dessert plates in reactive glazes, speckled finishes and solid colours. Stoneware is durable, lead-free and usually dishwasher safe.

Jaipur blue pottery

Hand-painted in cobalt blue and turquoise on a white base, blue pottery plates are mostly decorative and look stunning on walls or as accent pieces.

Brass and copper plates

Moradabad artisans make traditional thalis and charger plates in brass and copper, plain or etched. They suit Indian restaurants, festive tables and hotels.

Wooden plates and chargers

Mango and acacia wood plates and chargers add warmth under ceramic dinnerware and work well for outdoor dining.

Glazes and colour

Glazes are where Indian pottery really shines. We are honest that reactive glazes never look exactly the same twice, and that is part of their charm. If you need a specific colour to match your brand, potters can develop it with a minimum quantity and a little patience. Choosing from existing glazes is always the quickest route.

Restaurant and hotel dinnerware

For restaurants and hotels, we focus on thicker stoneware bodies, rolled rims that resist chipping and consistent sizes for stacking. Custom backstamps with your logo can be added.

Building a table

Plates rarely sell alone. Pair them with bowls, cups and mugs and serving platters in the same glaze, then add table mats and napkins for a complete table.

Minimum quantities and packing

Minimums are per design and glaze. Plates travel in sets with dividers or cell cartons to prevent breakage, and we quote ex-factory, FOB, CFR or CIF.

Questions about plates from India

Are your plates dishwasher and microwave safe?

Our stoneware usually is. Metal, wood and hand-painted pieces are not. We confirm each design and add care labels.

Can you add our logo to the back of the plates?

Yes. Custom backstamps are possible on stoneware.

Can I order mixed glazes in one shipment?

Yes, and many buyers do to test which colours sell best.

Tell us whether your plates are for homes, restaurants or display, and we will recommend a starting range.
