Tata Tiscon 500D carries the engineering legacy of Tata Steel’s year-2000 launch, the first TMT rebar in India to be manufactured with technological support from Morgan, USA. Rebars are judged on two dimensions, mechanical strength and chemical purity, and Tata Tiscon 500D was created specifically to address the second. Sulphur and Phosphorus are unavoidable impurities in any rebar, and when their combined level rises they weaken steel under extreme hot and cold conditions. The 2008 revision of IS 1786 introduced the ‘D’ category for exactly this reason, and Tata Tiscon 500D restricts combined S+P content to a maximum of 0.070%, well inside the 0.075% BIS ceiling.

Every batch is rolled from virgin iron ore through the Blast Furnace, Basic Oxygen Furnace, Ladle Furnace, and Continuous Caster route, a primary steelmaking path that keeps impurity levels far below what scrap-based Induction Furnace production can achieve, a route still used by roughly 70% of India’s rebar output. The result is a bar with typical yield strength of 540 MPa against a 500 MPa specified minimum, 18% minimum elongation against a 16% standard, and a superior CNC-machined rib pattern that bonds uniformly with concrete across the full length of every bar.
