Tata Tiscon is the reinforcement steel brand of Tata Steel Limited, launched in 2000 as India’s first TMT rebar produced with technological support from Morgan, USA, a milestone that positioned Tata Steel as an early mover in thermo-mechanical treatment technology within the domestic market. Manufactured out of Tata Steel’s Long Products Division, headquartered at Tata Centre in Kolkata, the brand has grown into one of the most recognised names in Indian construction steel, holding Superbrand status as the only rebar brand in India to achieve that consumer-validated recognition.

The brand’s core manufacturing philosophy centres on primary steelmaking, producing billets through the Blast Furnace, Basic Oxygen Furnace, Ladle Furnace, and Continuous Caster route from virgin iron ore sourced from Tata’s own captive mines, rather than the scrap-based Induction Furnace route used by roughly 70% of India’s rebar producers. This primary route gives Tata Tiscon consistently low sulphur and phosphorus content across every grade, a chemistry advantage the brand has built its entire product architecture around, from the original Fe500D launch grade through to the CRSD corrosion-resistant and Fe600 ultra-high-strength lines that followed.

Tata Tiscon rebars are sold by piece rather than by weight, in fixed 12-metre lengths, a service model the brand introduced specifically to remove weighment disputes at the point of sale. The brand’s dealer network spans more than 1,800 authorised outlets across India, backed by Recommended Consumer Pricing displayed at every dealer location and free home delivery within municipal limits.
