Mango Wood Salad Bowl

A mango wood salad bowl is turned on a lathe from one solid block, so there are no joins to crack or trap food. The turner hollows the bowl to an even wall thickness, sands it in stages and finishes it with food-safe oil or lacquer that brings out the swirling grain.

Wood turning is an age-old craft in Saharanpur, where artisanal communities supply bowls to kitchens around the world. We keep the profile low and wide, a contemporary style that suits salads, pasta and fruit, with options for ebonised outer walls or ethnic carved rims. The warm honey tones are among the natural colours of India, and each handicraft bowl has its own grain pattern, a reminder that this is Indian handwork, not moulded plastic.
