Our non woven weed mat is a spunbond sheet of 100% virgin polypropylene filaments, thermally bonded rather than woven, and UV stabilised. It is offered from 50 to 150 GSM. A 50 g/m² spunbond of this type typically tests at about 82 N MD and 61 N CD strip tensile with 160 to 180% elongation, while a 70 g/m² sheet reaches about 134 N MD and 104 N CD with over 200% stretch. That high elongation lets the fabric drape over uneven ground without splitting. Newton Exports supplies it from Indian nonwoven lines alongside our woven ground cover grades.

Typical Uses for Non-Woven Weed Control Fabric
Landscapers like non-woven sheet because you can cut a planting cross with scissors and the edges stay clean, which woven tape fabric does not do. It works best under a covering layer: bark, slate, gravel, decking or rockery stone. Heavier 90 to 150 GSM sheet doubles as a separation layer under paths and as erosion control on slopes. Lighter grades also serve as frost fleece over young crops. My advice to buyers: keep it covered. Left bare in strong sun for years, non-woven ages faster than a woven grade, and weeds can root into the fibres if soil settles on top.
