Earthquake-prone construction has ductility requirements that standard TMT grades do not always satisfy on their own, and JSW Neosteel EDS was engineered specifically to close that gap. Built to withstand and adapt, EDS TMT bars are high-strength Fe550D grade rebars with enhanced ductility, giving structures the critical flexibility to bend rather than fracture under the repeated, reversed loading that occurs during a seismic event.

Neosteel EDS is manufactured to IS 13920:2016 seismic detailing requirements alongside the base IS 1786:2008 Fe550D specification, pushing elongation to 16-18% and total elongation at maximum force to 7%, both comfortably above the 14.5% and 5% minimums specified for standard Fe550D. Yield strength typically reaches 570 MPa and tensile strength 630 MPa, giving a UTS/YS ratio of 1.12 to 1.18%, a range that directly reflects the bar’s capacity to absorb energy before failure. This performance is backed by the same HYQST rolling technology and ultra-low sulphur and phosphorus chemistry used across the Neosteel range, visible as concentric rings in the bar’s cross-section, along with a rib pattern engineered for a high aspect ratio bond with cement.
