API 5L Line Pipes from Newton are seamless and welded (ERW/SAW) steel pipes manufactured specifically to API Specification 5L for the transportation of oil, gas and water in cross-country and gathering pipeline systems. Designed to withstand sustained internal pressure, external soil loading and environmental exposure over decades of service, these pipes are produced under strict process control to meet the demanding requirements of pipeline operators worldwide.
API 5L Line Pipes
Newton supplies API 5L Line Pipes in Grade B and the higher-strength X-grades X42, X46, X52, X56, X60, X65 and X70, in both PSL1 and PSL2 product specification levels. Seamless line pipe is available from 1/2″ NB to 24″ NB, while welded (ERW and SAW) line pipe extends to large diameters for transmission mainlines, with wall thicknesses selected according to the design pressure and route conditions of each pipeline project.
These pipes are used in upstream gathering lines, cross-country oil and gas transmission pipelines, city gas distribution networks, and water transmission mains where API certification is a mandatory procurement requirement. The higher X-grades provide greater strength per unit weight, allowing thinner wall pipe to be used for a given pressure rating, which reduces both material cost and installation weight on long-distance pipeline projects.
Every length of API 5L pipe is tested for chemical composition, mechanical properties (yield, tensile, elongation, and where specified, Charpy impact toughness), hydrostatic pressure, and dimensional tolerance, with full mill test certificates issued against each heat number for traceability. Coating options such as 3-layer polyethylene (3LPE) or fusion-bonded epoxy (FBE) can be arranged for buried or subsea pipeline sections.
Newton sources API 5L Line Pipe from API-monogrammed Indian mills, coordinating grade, PSL level, size and coating specifications into a single export package with complete certification, enabling EPC contractors and pipeline operators to procure compliant line pipe with confidence.
