Handwoven Cane Tray

A handwoven cane tray is made by splitting rattan cane into fine strands and weaving them over a bent wooden or cane frame. The open, basket-like surface keeps the tray light while the frame keeps it rigid enough to carry cups and plates.

Cane and bamboo weaving is an age-old craft of the northeast, where artisanal communities in Assam and Tripura grow and harvest their own material. We keep the shapes simple, a contemporary style that suits Scandinavian, coastal and boho rooms. Natural honey tones and white wash are the main colours, softer than the bright colours of India found elsewhere in our handicraft range, but just as Indian in origin and ethnic in spirit.
