Bagru Block Print Cushion Cover

Our Bagru block print cushion cover is printed in the village of Bagru by Chhipa families who still use carved teak blocks, natural dyes and the local river-water washing. Two styles are offered: Dabu, where a mud resist paste creates crackled pale motifs on indigo, and Syahi-Begar, with black and red prints on a cream ground made with iron and alum mordants.

Motifs are smaller and more rustic than Kalamkari or Ajrakh: buttis, small florals, leaves and simple borders. Natural indigo, harda yellow and pomegranate give soft, mellow tones that look right in farmhouse and cottage interiors. Covers are zipped and can be backed in a plain dyed cotton.

Specifications

Typical Buyers

Farmhouse and cottage-style retailers, slow-living brands, organic and natural stores and cafes are the main buyers. Bagru coordinates with our Bagru table runner and tea towels, so many buyers build a full kitchen and living set from the same blocks. Indigo Dabu is the steady seller. Natural dyes are a selling point for organic and slow-living stores, and we can provide a dye declaration for the shelf card.
