A handmade paper journal uses paper made from recycled cotton rags, pulped, formed by hand on screens and sun dried. The paper has deckle edges and a soft texture, and it takes ink, watercolour and pencil beautifully.
Handmade paper making is an age-old craft of the artisanal communities of Sanganer near Jaipur. Covers come in leather, Indian fabric with traditional block prints, and kraft board, in ethnic and contemporary style designs. Pages can include flower petals and the natural colours of India, and each Indian handicraft journal is bound by hand.

Questions
Is the handmade paper journal suitable for watercolour?
Yes, heavier paper weights handle light watercolour well.
Can you emboss our logo?
Yes, on leather or fabric covers.
Is the paper tree free?
Yes, it is made from recycled cotton rags.
Do you make gift sets?
Yes, with pens and bookmarks.
What is the minimum order?
Around 200 journals per design.
How is cotton rag paper made?
Cotton rags from garment factories are sorted, beaten into pulp with water, lifted on mesh screens and pressed, then sun dried on lines. Each sheet has a slightly different texture, which gives the journals their handmade character.
