Our Bagru block print cushion cover is printed in the village of Bagru by Chhipa families who still use carved teak blocks, natural dyes and the local river-water washing. Two styles are offered: Dabu, where a mud resist paste creates crackled pale motifs on indigo, and Syahi-Begar, with black and red prints on a cream ground made with iron and alum mordants.
Motifs are smaller and more rustic than Kalamkari or Ajrakh: buttis, small florals, leaves and simple borders. Natural indigo, harda yellow and pomegranate give soft, mellow tones that look right in farmhouse and cottage interiors. Covers are zipped and can be backed in a plain dyed cotton.
