Steel rebar corrosion causes volumetric expansion inside concrete, leading to cracking, spalling, and progressive deterioration of the cover, ultimately reducing a structure’s load-carrying capacity and creating expensive, sometimes unsafe, repair situations. CorroShield rebars are produced using state-of-the-art technology to deliver four properties simultaneously, higher strength, ductility, seismic resistance, and corrosion resistance.

The corrosion resistance comes from a controlled addition of copper, chromium, nickel, molybdenum, and phosphorus, alloying elements permitted under IS 1786:2008 Amendment 3, Clause 4.2, with the combined content of these elements held at a minimum of 0.40% by specification. Jindal Panther Fe500D CRS typically delivers a yield strength around 530 MPa and tensile strength near 600 MPa, comfortably ahead of the IS 1786 Fe500D minimums, while the alloying package builds better bond strength with concrete and enhanced inherent immunity against both corrosion and physical damage.

Every batch passes through JSPL’s NABL-approved in-house testing labs at Patratu and Angul, using salt spray testing, NACE lab protocols, macro etch testing, and spectrometry to confirm corrosion performance before dispatch. The product is CPWD-affiliated for use in central government construction works and is GREENPRO and EPD certified under JSPL’s decarbonisation programme.
