Stainless Steel Welded and ERW/EFW Pipes from Newton are longitudinally welded stainless steel pipes manufactured for architectural, dairy, chemical process and general fabrication applications where a cost-effective, corrosion-resistant pipe is required across a wide diameter range. Manufactured by cold-forming stainless steel strip or plate and continuously welding the seam, these pipes offer consistent quality across small and very large diameters alike.
Stainless Steel Welded / ERW Pipes
Newton manufactures Stainless Steel Welded Pipes to ASTM/ASME A312 and A358 in grades 304, 304L, 316, 316L, 317L and 904L, spanning from 1/2″ NB up to a large 60″ NB, making welded stainless pipe the practical choice wherever seamless pipe availability is limited by diameter. Welding is carried out by ERW (electric resistance welding) for smaller diameters and EFW (electric fusion welding, submerged arc) for larger diameters, followed by weld seam inspection, heat treatment and, where required, weld bead grinding for a smooth finish.
These pipes are used in dairy and food processing plants, pharmaceutical utility piping, water and wastewater treatment, architectural cladding and handrail systems, and general chemical process piping where diameter or cost considerations favor welded over seamless construction. Their corrosion resistance and hygienic surface finish make them equally suited to visible architectural work and concealed process piping.
Weld seams are inspected by radiography, ultrasonic testing or dye penetrant methods depending on the service class specified, and every pipe undergoes dimensional and mechanical property verification with mill test certificates issued per ASTM A312/A358. Surface finishes range from standard mill (2B) to polished architectural grades.
