The Tussar silk throw is handwoven in Bhagalpur, Bihar, from wild silk spun by silkworms that feed on forest trees rather than mulberry. That diet gives Tussar its honey-gold colour and a coarser, slubbed yarn, so the finished cloth has a matte-lustre glow and uneven texture that buyers immediately recognise as natural silk.

Bhagalpur weavers are known as the silk city weavers of eastern India. For this throw they use Tussar in the weft, sometimes with cotton in the warp to add drape and bring the cost down, and finish the ends with twisted fringe. It is light, around 400 to 600 g, so it reads more as a luxury layering piece than a warm blanket.
