The Kalamkari tea towel is block printed in Pedana, Andhra Pradesh, with natural dyes from myrobalan, alum, iron and plant roots. Designs are adapted for a kitchen towel: a central floral or paisley field with a printed border, or a vertical vine that looks attractive when hung from an oven door.
The base is a medium-weight cotton that absorbs well and grows softer with washing. Colours are rust, black, mustard and indigo on off-white. Each towel is hemmed with a loop, and the warm earthy palette coordinates with Kalamkari placemats, runners and cushions.
