This handloom check tea towel is woven in Karur, Tamil Nadu, one of India’s largest export centres for kitchen and table linen. Yarn-dyed cotton is woven into classic checks, gingham, windowpane and stripes, which means the pattern goes right through the cloth and will not wash out.
The fabric is a firm plain or dobby weave of around 200 GSM that dries glassware without lint once it has been washed a couple of times. Towels are hemmed on all sides, with a contrast stripe or loop. Karur mills dye to buyer colour cards every day, so this is the easiest product in the range to make under your own label.
