Tata Wiron ASTM A416-2010 Grade 1860 Round Strand

Tata Wiron (Tata Steel) produces the Tata Wiron ASTM A416-2010 Grade 1860 Round Strand for the higher-capacity end of Tata Wiron’s American-standard range, covering the full 1860 MPa size run up to the less common 15.75 mm diameter.

Produced in conformance with ASTM A416-2010 (Round Strand), the range covers five sizes from 9.53 mm to 15.75 mm, minimum breaking loads of 102.3–277.4 kN, and strand tested at EMPA Switzerland for cryogenic tensile strength, fatigue life and one-pin bend performance before it ships.

Contractors specify the Tata Wiron ASTM A416-2010 Grade 1860 Round Strand for towers, malls and mixed-use developments such as the Atlantis Royal Tower and Emirates Crown Tower in Dubai, both named among Tata Steel’s reference mega-projects using this grade of strand.

Every coil of the Tata Wiron ASTM A416-2010 Grade 1860 Round Strand passes through Tata Steel’s fully integrated manufacturing cycle, from its own iron ore mines through in-house steel making and wire rod rolling at Tarapur, Indore and Jamshedpur, supplied in reeless cheese coils of 1–3.5 MT in either dry or oiled condition depending on site storage conditions.

Coil handling for the Tata Wiron ASTM A416-2010 Grade 1860 Round Strand: cut only with an abrasive disc cutter or shear cutter, never with a flame or welding torch, since heat changes the steel’s microstructure and its mechanical properties. Coils should be unloaded with a crane rather than dropped off the vehicle, stored under cover on a raised platform away from direct ground or water contact, and protected with a vapour phase inhibitor if they will sit on site for an extended period before stressing.
