Specifications
Qualified against BS 5896:2012, Super Grade (1770/1860), the size range extends higher unit-diameter breaking loads of 102–265 kN thanks to the denser 1770/1860 MPa steel grade, together with the same tight arc-height straightness tolerance and 12–18d lay length applied across BS 5896:2012.
Field use of the D.P. Wires BS 5896:2012 Super Grade 7-Wire Strand concentrates on long-span bridge decks and heavier post-tensioned transfer structures where the design tendon force is set close to the strand’s rated capacity and every extra kN of breaking load reduces the strand count.
Testing on the D.P. Wires BS 5896:2012 Super Grade 7-Wire Strand follows its own in-house physical, mechanical and metallurgical testing laboratory, run under an IS/ISO 9001:2015 quality system that traces back to D.P. Wires’ original ISO 9001:2008 certification by the Joint Accreditation System of Australia and New Zealand (JAS-ANZ) in December 2003. Finished coils are strapped at six points, wrapped in VPI paper, LD-polythene film and one-side laminated bituminised jute before leaving the Ratlam plant.
