Ajrakh Print Tea Towel

The Ajrakh tea towel takes the same hand block printing used on our Ajrakh cushion covers and applies it to an absorbent cotton kitchen towel. It is printed in Kutch, Gujarat, with natural indigo and madder dyes in the traditional geometric layout, then hemmed on four sides with a cotton tape loop at one corner for hanging.

A tea towel is often the first handmade textile a customer buys, because it is affordable and useful. That makes it a good gateway product for a store introducing Indian craft. The cloth softens and becomes more absorbent with washing, and the natural dyes mellow slightly over time.
